Buon anno! / Happy New Year!

Questa sera sono sceso a chiudere le persiane perche’ stava venendo buio e le finestre del piano terra possono attirare ospiti indesiderati. Mi sono sporto fuori per vedere se i miei due piccoli mostri erano in zona e improvvisamente mi sono bloccato: il cielo era quasi privo di nuvole, come capita spesso in inverno, e l’aria era freddina ma piu’ che sopportabile. Si stava bene. A Yokohama – anzi, alla periferia di Yokohama, dove fa un po’ piu’ freddo – ci sono circa 10 gradi a Capodanno.
Domani si ricomincia. Mi auguro un fantastico 2011!

This evening I went downstairs to close the shutters because it was getting dark and the windows on the ground floor sometimes attract unwanted attention. I leaned out to check if my two little monsters were around, and then I froze: The sky was nearly cloudless, as it often is in winter, and the air was chilly yet quite bearable. It felt good. In Yokohama – in the suburbs, to be precise, where it’s a little colder – it’s about 10℃ on New Year’s Eve.
Tomorrow we’ll start again. I wish myself a fabulous 2011!
